Ambassador of Ghana in China, Graces The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS)-China, Beijing Chapter Akwaabaa Night.

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS)-China, Beijing Chapter, hosted a grand Akwaaba night on Saturday, 1st November, 2025; a traditional welcome event for new Ghanaian students enrolled in Universities in Beijing. The Ambassador of Ghana to China was invited to grace the occasion, showcasing the strong bond that exist between the student community and the diplomatic mission. The Akwaaba night, Beijing Chapter, in essence provide a platform for new students to network, share experiences, and get familiar with the Ghanaian community in Beijing.

H.E Ambassador Kojo Bonsu, fondly referred to as the “Gen Z President” by the students, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting and empowering Ghanaian students in China. He encouraged the student leadership to add him unto their Ghanaian student’s social media platforms, where he could add his voice to discussions and also make contributions to their speedy progress in their academic endeavors in Beijing.

Ambassador Bonsu announced plans to introduce initiatives that would enable the Embassy to monitor students’ progress, organise annual get-togethers for networking, and address problems that may arise. He encouraged students to utilise their acquired knowledge to contribute to Ghana’s development and to be proactive and innovative in solving the country’s challenges.

The Ambassador and some Staff from the Ghana Embassy, who were present contributed to the student’s kitty by purchasing their branded Akwaaba warm clothing that were auctioned at the event.  

The event strengthened the bond between the Embassy and the students, with Ambassador Bonsu’s open-door policy being warmly welcomed by the students.
